The Storm Boys program is geared for boys who have graduated from the U12 program or have a skill set that can safely compete with the older boys. This is mostly a Under 16 program comprising of many boys who have played with the Storm for 7-8 years. This program offers the best training and playing time in the region with ample training time for skills, conditioning and field play. While social players are welcome, many players in this group strive to raise their game to the best level.
USA Field Hockey has a growing interest in boys/mens field hockey. The Storm has a great relationship with USA Field Hockey and many of our older boys strive to play in programs sponsored by USA Field Hockey. Please check Usafieldhockey.com for further information.
Mouthguard, shin guards, gym shoes, water bottle and a stick are necessary. Sticks will be provided to beginners to get them started.
The Storm Boys program does require at times travel to tournaments in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Phoenix, and Europe if enough interest and opportunities. Tournaments and travel sites are selected based on the opportunity and player availability. Many players in this group will also travel with the Storm girls program to Mixed tournaments in many competitions locally and in outside states.
Many of the most experienced Storm boys players may wish to advance their training by competing with men players. The Storm has an organized arrangement with the Palo Alto Men's club to train on Thursdays at Stanford University and participate on Sunday matches. This is a select opportunity for boys who are selected by the Storm Board after consultation with the Palo Alto Club and the Storm Coaches. This program has its own fee structure.
