History

Encouraged by the USA Field Hockey, the Stanford Storm Field Hockey club was started in 2007 by a group of committed parents, who wanted to help develop a strong hockey club in the Bay Area. Since then our club has been growing at an amazing pace. Our mission is to develop the sport in our region and to give our athletes the best training in a safe, positive environment. We encourage boys and girls between the ages of 6 to 16 to visit our training sessions and learn about our sport, which is the field team sport with the second largest number of participants worldwide. Our younger boys (under 12) participate in our IN HOUSE League with training and weekly games, as well as opportunities to play in various tournaments. Our older boys have the possibility to participate in our High Performance Training sessions with travel to tournaments all over America and Canada.

In 2010 to meet the growing need of field hockey players in our region, the Storm program modified its program to incorporate high school and middle schoolplayers. While we continue a strong boys focus for development and growth, we opened our program to all boys and girls from the surrounding areas. This gives us the opportunity to grow our sport at the junior levels while still giving our older boys and girls the experience of competitive field hockey with advanced coaching and more scrimmage time. We are excited about these new changes to our program to help providing new playing options for all children regardless of age.

Mission

The Storm is committed to the growth of the sport of field hockey in our region including areas of Palo Alto, Los Altos, Cupertino, and Sunnyvale. Our focus is multi-tiered. We are committed to a strong Under 12 Mixed program to help encourage these boys and girls to grow playing this wonderful sport. For our older boys and girls, we are committed to providing all players the opportunity to play social hockey. For those interested in advanced competitive field hockey, we offer the training, skills and environment to meet these needs. Our club is always looking to increase field hockey awareness. We are committed to producing boys and girls committed to helping the sport grow in America as umpires, officials, players and sport leaders. We are very committed to our players leading the grouth of field hockey in America at all levels of play!
